Fun Aerial Photography Shots from outside of space (J/K)……….From Spokane, Wa. to Los Angeles LAX

•October 30, 2008 • 1 Comment

I went on vacation to Spokane Washington for a week and I had a great time with my family and with my photography. It’s so fun to capture memories as a photographer and have them to enjoy with the family. Being involved mostly in Ventura and Los Angeles counties its hard to find the time to get out of the busyness in photography in these two counties. Little by little the natural things to take photography of are dissapearing but when you go to Spokane, Washington you get to appreciate all the wonderful things that make the world of photography so interesting and captivating. I was able to capture aerial photos from the plane and as I headed to california with my 30d I looked out the window and thought I wanted more than I could see because there seemed to be nothing. I was so wrong and it is another one of the reasons why I encourage you and anyone who has a camera to take up photography, you don’t have to be a professional photographer but don’t miss those moments that can be captured for you and yours to enjoy forever. Photography isn’t just about pictures, or great shots, or even money……..photography is about love, passion, memories, emotion, and excitement!

Los Angeles and Moorpark Zoo Photography – Wildlife Photography – Ventura County Professional Photographer-www.WallotDigital.com

I’ve learned to have my photography equipment with me ALL the time. I was looking through my photography and I found some awesome shots of the LA and Moorpark Zoo. Of course, my intention was never to get these shots but I always try really hard to bring my photographer “stuff.” Sometimes its a little more difficult than others because I have all of my kids (5) with me so I have to be careful as to not be too distracted by my surroundings.  Somehow it turns into a type of “event photography” and I find myself in a trance as I do when I’m doing my professional photographer business in weddings, corporate events, christmas parties, etc. If you look below you’ll see some photography of a Lion, a Seal, and Alligator and a few other wild things.  You don’t hear that much about the Moorpark zoo located inside Moorpark college but they do have a few interesting animals and a very nice presentation of the animals to go with it. I encourage those nearby in Simi Valley, Agoura, Thousand Oaks, Fillmore, Camarillo, Newbury Park, and others in Ventura county to check it out, it’s definitely worth taking your kids to, plus you don’t have to go so far. Be sure to bring your photographer gear because if you don’t you’ll miss lots of great photography at either the Los Angeles and Moorpark Zoo’s. I know Santa Barbara is another good one and I’m sure I’ll get to put up some pictures of my visit to that zoo as we’ll, next time I get to go. Enjoy the photography below and don’t forget to check out www.WallotDigital.com

Moorpark High School Football Sports Photographer Homecoming VS Simi Valley Fireworks Awesome Half Time Show – Moorpark wins! 2008

•October 12, 2008 • Leave a Comment

My boys and I went to our first Moorpark High School Football game. We were fortunate to be able to go on their homecoming against rival Simi Valley High. I was able to incorporate my photography into our visit and took some pretty cool pictures of the football game.

My 13 yr. old son also took the canon camera and got some decent action shots of the game. I’m mostly an event and family photographer and do and have done basketball photography, football, and soccer photography but know how to do photography for all other sports. I think this experience may have helped influence a future in photography, maybe wedding, maybe, portrait photography, maybe…………sports photography in my 13 yr old son.  I’ve been trying to get him to do something that is his, DJ, Photography, Video, or Computer work, services that I offer so that I can make him my apprentice and he can take over our business. I haven’t been able to find something to get him inspired in DJ, Video, or Photography (please excuse redundancy, its for SEO), but I think I got him this time. This being his first football game in Ventura county, the fact that we live in Moorpark and we were at this highly publicized game because of the cross-town rivals in Simi Valley this was really hyped up.

The game was really good and Moorpark really took it to Simi Valley, when we went home with 7:37 left the score was 35-0 Moorpark. It started getting cold and it wasn’t really worth staying. Before I finish this post, I do want to be sure to mention that the half time show was great.

Moorpark High School Senior class ASB outdid themselves on their “Jungle” like half time show with high school kids dressed up as gorillas, lions, zebras, etc. They put up this imaginary jungle and did a Broadway type show right on the Moorpark High Football field. My hat goes off to the choreographer or this event as it was not simple, they danced and performed in a theatrical like way which is art I truly admire. I almost forgot the fireworks, they also had fireworks and I must say that they were as good or better than 4th of July fireworks!! Enjoy some of the action pics below. Anyone been to the Oxnard, Ventura, Port Hueneme, Simi Valley, Agoura, Calabasas, Westlake, or Thousand Oaks Homecomings? I’d like to know so that maybe I can attend one of these and take some pictures. Good luck to all of you and congratulations to the Moorpark Musketeers on an outstanding game!

I’m trying to write about wedding photography – something related for you photographers in oxnard ventura camarillo thousand oaks simi valley and calabasas – backup your hard drive and images etc.

I wanted to share this with you all to show the importance about backing up your system. We all think our computer is never going to be the one to crash right? It usually happens right after you’ve finished editing a your final piece of the wedding you video taped, or your shoot went extremely well and you think you have the pictures of a lifetime, or you downloaded all the music you needed for your wedding or special event as a wedding dj, or you did a marketing piece that took you over a month to put together ( I know I’m exaggerating) but now your computer CRASHED and you have NO BACKUP!!!
Please share your story and what you did to recover your data. If you’re in ventura county or anywhere else in the world and you had this happen to you feel free to let us know what happened and how you recovered your stuff. I will share my own personal experience a little later which had a happy ending but MAN, I had the scare of my life as I do wedding dj, wedding photography, and wedding video work. I had finished all of my projects and turned them in but I also had lots of my childrens photography so I didn’t want to loose it and……………..God worked it out. I’ll start another piece later and let you all know how my hard drive crashed and what I did to fix it…….thank the Lord for google.

This is the conversation I had with a fellow photographer on one of the networking sites it starts at the bottom:

Hey! Good to hear that you’re taking care of business……THE “SMART” way. It is a very long process.

If you have your install disk for your laptop, after you’ve backed everything up, you can save some money, just load your operating system yourself, its really easy if you just pop in the disk (windows xp, vista, which ever pertains to you)and reboot your laptop/computer then it will tell you to press any key to boot from cd and then follow the prompts. This can save you a couple of hundred bucks. If you do have the disk, if not ask someone who does, typically your “product key” is on a label on your laptop/computer somewhere and this is all you need as long as you have a working operating system disk.

I’m glad to hear that was helpful. It’s pretty amazing to me how so many people have “ALL” this knowledge but won’t share it. Check out my blog and see if you can give tips of your own experiences, advice, work arounds, short cuts or advice on photography, Thanks Shanda. I really tried. Let me know if I can help with anything else. Hey……..if I can help someone in 5 minutes…….ITS ALWAYS WORTH IT—-Good job backing up your stuff!!

Hi Shanda,

It sounds like you may have spyware, adaware, or a virus preventing you from doing this. If you are on a secured network there can be some permissions that restrict uploads.
Download and install AVG antivirus (google= avg free) Also, download and install spybot search and destroy (safer-networking. org) Run both of these programs, may take a couple of hours and will slow you down a bit as they are resource intensive but will very likely find the problem. Even if you have fixed this problem be sure to run these two programs to have a better, faster experience with your system. Good luck and let me know how it goes.

Doing Wedding Photography For Friends or Couples on a Tight Budget? Tips and advice for pros as well as Amateurs

•October 8, 2008 • Leave a Comment

It’s a great insight to professional wedding photographers as well as amateur wedding photographers to be protective of the photography profession as well as caring and considerate enough to give good advice. I know we have enough photographers but no one should ever try to scare anyone trying to help someone else out. Some amateurs are looking for advice and help to be able to do the most “decent” job they can in wedding photography they did not intend to do in the first place. Some wedding photographers see this and they hammer away telling them they shouldn’t or that the couple will hate them forever but I still don’t know why they do this. Are they trying to look out for the couple, the amateur photographer or……….what??

I do encourage professional photographers to be honest and mention the pressure ofthe expectations, and issues they may encounter but try to do it in a positive manner. Maybe Joe blow will end up shooting the wedding anyway because the bride and groom don’t have money for a professional $5,000 wedding photographer. I know $5000 is a little exaggerated (MAYBE FOR AN “ALL DIGITAL PACKAGE)for a basic package but some couples are just trying to do the right thing in getting married, others really don’t put that much money into the wedding photography. As professionals this is something we must all consider, not all people have the kind of money we charge for our professional photography. Just thought I’d throw it out there because I think the worst thing you can do to someone is discourage them from helping someone who thinks they maybe competent. If the bride and groom choose this “amateur” to photograph their wedding, as long as the “amateur” is honest and true to the bride and groom, then the responsibility is ultimately theirs if they’ve seen your work and/or know you’re an “amateur.”

But please, don’t be discouraging, discouraging people from doing this can actually scare someone and stop a dream that has just begun………….something to think about……..Check out my website and blog for more of my advice and professional photography:
